A day in the life of Anna

5:30-6:00 am – Get up and play on the bed for some time.

6:00 am – Papa gets up and takes Anna out to the hall where she has a biscuit with Dadi.

6:45 am – Mumma gets up and is greeted with all the enthusiasm deserving such an event. After all Anna has seen Mumma after almost ONE hour. Feed.

6:45 – 8:15 am – Papa gets dressed and leaves for office but only after Anna samples Papa’s breakfast. General morning rush with Anna getting into everything.

8:15 am – Massage and bath time! Anna loves the bath and is mostly ok with the massage though she loves the massage exercises. Starts crying as soon as she is out of the tub since she is very sleepy and wants to sleep even before we can put her clothes on.

8:30 am – Mumma puts Anna to sleep.

9:00 am – Mumma leaves for office. Boo hoo hoo.

9:15 am – Anna wakes up from her nap.

9:30 – 10:00 am – Breakfast of oats and some fruit – mostly peeled, diced grapes or apple cooked with butter, some sugar and cinammon.

10:30 am – Orange juice which she absolutely loves.

11:00 am – Nap

12:30 – 1:00 pm – Lunch. Mostly paratha with whatever vegetable we are having (without chilli).

2:30 pm – Bottle of pumped milk.

3:00 pm – Nap

4:30 pm – Gets up and has her evening snack. Either toast with cheesespread or a carton of fruit yoghurt.

5:00 pm – Yippeeee. Mumma is back from office.

5:30 pm – Lotion time and change of clothes.

6:00 pm – Down for a walk in the stroller.

6:30 pm – Dinner. Rice-daal-ghee-vegetable. Play with Papa who is mostly back from office.

7:30 pm – Feed and bedtime.

On top of this she gets up 3-4 times in the night for a short feed and mostly goes back to sleep immediately.

Anna is pretty good with her schedule and sticks to it mostly. It’s really easy for whoever is minding her during the day (till a week ago my mom and now her Dadi). She mostly doesn’t cry without reason and it’s easy to guess what she wants at what time. She’s also adjusting to her Dadi pretty well. She has stayed with her for one and half months some time ago so she recognized her immediately. She doesn’t go to her mostly if I am around but during the day she is happy with her and eats and sleeps properly.

The only thing which needs to change is her getting up at night but I am ok with that for the time and not planning to try anything to change it anytime soon.

It suddenly struck me that it’s not me who has decided the schedule but rather Anna herself. She seems to be a creature of habit and we have slowly over time understood her cues and adjusted her day accordingly. Whenever I brag about her being on a good daily pattern she must be thinking – “Mooom, it took me so long to get you guys to do what I want at the correct time and now you’re taking all the credit as if YOU were the one who did it. Sheesh! These moms I tell you. They’re a bit thick but overall I guess they’ll do”. 🙂
